The Crossing

Day 27 - I was going for an effect here but missed. I wanted this to look like crossing this bridge would take you from a mysterious, black and white world, to a colorful normal world. Back to the drawing board....

Ack.. I just found out I had my comments set so I had to approve them before they could be seen. I didn't realize I had done that. I wondered why I had no comments for days. I thought you all just didn't like me anymore. :( But now I found lots of comments I didn't know I had :))).. Thanks for the comments. And thanks sister Nita for telling me my mistake.

  1. That's a cool idea. I would have liked to see the path with some color too.
Why not make it super colorful to contrast the no color of the bridge crossed? Or maybe the "normal" begins beyond the path. Get it like you want and send me a pic. ok? Nita

  2. That's a great idea - one thing I might try is shooting from slightly to the left, and then desat on a gradient from left to right.

  3. I really like this shot. I love the colour, and the bridge composititon as part of this shot is great.

  4. Yah, I didn't get the connection you were going for before reading your write up. Probably has to do with the fact that the bridge could be that color even *in* color. I also think that the background could use a lot more colors going on, and another key would be to try and have the bridge retaining color nearer to the "color" land, and fading out as it came towards the viewer.

  5. Great idea!!! I love bridgey photos, wood or metal. I really like the bifurcated path too, from b/w to color and one path to two.

    Nicely done :)

  6. It's a nice shot regardless of the effect you were trying to achieve. I like the idea though of crossing from B/W into color... perhaps if you had taken it from further back so you had more foreground elements.

  7. Nice idea. I like the photo as is but didnt notice the effect you were going for. Guess cause the bridge could really be a dark stone black and white color. Wonderful shot..
