First Night Sunset

Both evenings at the coast offered fair sunsets. This was the first night. The horizon doesn't look solid here but this is the way it came out of the camera. Not sure why it looks "broken". Maybe the waves in the distance?

  4. hi faye

that's a great shot. i love the wave breaking in the foreground ... nice clean break and a tube almost good enough to surf!

the horizon's not solid because of the waves and the light reflecting off waves due to the sunset. it's quite common! :) ... i'm a beach boy from way back!

    wonderful photograph today.

  5. I wouldn't have even noticed the horizon line if you hadn't mentioned it :-) But I agree that it must be the waves, and what Dave said. The sky is such a beautiful color! I wish the waves were a touch lighter though because I can just make out some really, really stunning spray and see the crashing action.

  6. Beautiful! The sky is sooo pretty and the subtle tones of the wave crashing in the foreground are perfect! I agree with the waves being the cause of the broken horizon, I have noticed this many times while fishing the Chesapeake. Lovely capture

  14. wonderfully tidy and neat and linear....horizons fascinate the pod...i plan a project on them...constantly shifting, never fixed, at times indeterminate
