Agee(e) Family Mystery

I posted a photo from this old cemetery before. This is the burial plot of the Agee family. I am puzzled about the name as it is carved into the back of the steps. It appears that it was carved as AGEE at one time, but someone added an extra E at a later date. Is this how you see it too? Any guesses what the situation was here? I really can't imagine. I have to get back up there to find out if that really is an added E or a design.

  8. A mystery. There are so many mysteries in graveyards. That's one reason it's so fascinating to wander around in them. I really much go with my camera to the oldest one here in Little Rock so see what mysteries I can document. You are an inspiration, Faye.

  14. I hate to disagree with so many, but I don't think it's an extra E. It actually looks like a border had been painted around the name and now it's wearing off. The name itself has uniform letters and the third "E" is off a bit. It's weird how the border paint has worn to look like an E, but I think it's just a coincidence.

  16. I love old cemetaries. It is so interesting to think of the people who lived before us and how they came to their demise. Strange the E thing too.
