Artichoke

I discovered this lone artichoke in a flower bed at work. I don't know anything about them but I think you're supposed to pick them before they flower. I think seeing the flower is worth giving up eating the veggie though.

  3. I love artichokes and think they are a fascinating plant. You captured the flower so well. If you plan on eating them they have to be picked way before the flowering stage.
    Great shots.

  8. Nice picture of this artichoke, in France we make in Britanny the culture of it. We eat it befaore we get the flower. It fact we cut the head of it, put it in water in boiling. If you need the time in boiling water ask me. After the cooking time you take it over. Them we eat the base of the sheets in a sauce with vinegar. The part is tender...if you want more informations ask me....I think I will make a photo report next time we eat some at home.
You can watch some pictures of the ones we have in the garden.
